Indian actor Irrfan Khan died at the age of 53. He succumbed to complications from a colon infection, a spokesman for the Mumbai hospital said. He had been taken there.
Khan had been diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and was treated longer in London. But he returned to work last year.
Khan was considered one of the best Indian actors and was known for showing a wide range of emotions with a twitch of his eyebrows or an eye movement. Bollywood-size Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Twitter that he would leave a big gap.
In 2008, Khan played a pragmatic policeman in “Slumdog Millionaire”, and in 2012, he embodied the adult Piscine “Pi” Molitor Patel in “Life of Pi: Shipwreck with Tiger”. In the same year he was also seen in “The Amazing Spider-Man”. In 2015 he played in “Jurassic World” and in 2016 in the Dan Brown film adaptation “Inferno”.
Khan had been married to Sutapa Sikdar, who worked in the Indian film industry, since 1995. The couple have two sons.
