Slow internet: company feels slowed down

While the fire protection specialist Koppenhagen now has optimal conditions for good internet connections at its headquarters in the small village of Dehmke, the company feels slowed down in Groß Berkel of all places.

Frank and Jan-Hendrik Koppenhagen can’t believe it. There the family business bought the company building from Magneta. Fast internet? Only possible at high costs, as they learned. “I assumed that we shouldn’t have any problems in an industrial park,” says the boss. Big plans of supraregional importance: The specialist wants to create a training center for emergency and rescue forces in Groß Berkel in September under the name Rescue Arena.

Fast internet? Indispensable. But: none. There is a distribution box less than 100 meters away from which the line could be laid. Jan-Hendrik Koppenhagen spent months trying to find solutions. At Telekom, the operation would have resulted in one-time costs of around 40,000 euros, plus an additional 2350 euros per month for the gigabit / s offer. “Comparable to Dehmke through htp – for only 99 euros”, he was speechless. Telekom withdrew anyway. Vodafone wants to forego one-off costs, came to 1299 euros per month with the 5-year contract. “That means 78,000 euros over five years,” the authorized signatory calculates.

So far, no decision has been made. At a meeting with three companies in the neighborhood, the Koppenhagens learned that they had similar problems. “We need fast internet – and at an acceptable price,” says the junior. Frank Koppenhagen sees the public sector as having an obligation: “As an entrepreneur in an industrial park, I feel kidding – I want to achieve something, but I get sticks thrown between my legs.”
