BRUSSELS – Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar became the winner of the 87th edition of the Walloon Arrow classic. In the finish climb, the UAE Team Emirates rider overcame the second Dane Mattias Skjelmose from Trek-Segafredo and the third Spaniard Mikel Landa from Bahrain-Victorious.
As is traditional, the race was decided in the final climb on the Mur de Huy, and in it the Slovene showed his excellent current form. He already triumphed in the third spring worldtour classic, when he also succeeded at the Tour of Flanders and last Sunday at the Amstel Gold Race. Overall, he claimed his 12th win of the season.
“Of course, it’s great that I won, I enjoyed it. I’ll try to carry it over to Sunday.” said Pogačar. “It’s a different race, quite a bit longer, but I’m in good shape,” added the two-time Tour de France winner.
