TRIESTE Stop to controlled prices for petrol and diesel. From May 1st in Slovenia the cost of fuel is free again: that is to say, it will be fixed by the individual plant operators, with no maximum ceiling. This is the effect of the decision taken by the Ljubljana government not to extend the measure adopted on March 15 to cope with the surge in prices after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Provision that, in fact, set a limit threshold – € 1.503 per liter for petrol and € 1.541 for diesel – until 30 April.
From Sunday, therefore, it is foreseeable to expect a significant increase in prices at the pump and, consequently, a lesser comings and goings of Italian motorists across the border. In fact, if the Slovenian executive has chosen not to renew the anti-price increase measure, the Friuli Venezia Giulia council has instead chosen to extend the maxi discounts on fuels for residents in possession of the card for subsidized purchases at least until next 31 May.
As is known, there is talk of reductions of up to 34 cents for petrol and up to 25 cents for diesel, depending on the distance from the border of the Municipality of residence, which are added to the discount of 30.5 cents decided on state level.
Furthermore, precisely in the light of the liberalization of prices taken again in Slovenia, the Region has chosen to return to pressing on the Draghi government to stabilize the contributions. The Councilor for Energy and Environmental Defense Fabio Scoccimarro announced the sending of a letter to the Prime Minister to reiterate the importance of the double discount that in Friuli Venezia has seen for the first time in history the price at the pump lower than that beyond the border.
The commissioner also specified the numbers for this period will also be attached to the communication addressed to the Government, with the aim of reiterating the importance of maintaining the state contribution in order to make the price of the Italian pump competitive and avoid the “tourism of the full”. –
