Information appeared on social networks that Slovan Bratislava should play a friendly match against Dynamo Moscow. A lot of fans immediately started protesting against it and even Slavia boss Jaroslav Tvrdík reacted to it. Slavia was also supposed to play a friendly with Slovan, but under such circumstances it will not work. In the end, Slovan did not officially announce the match anywhere, but it finally took place on Tuesday. The Russian club shared videos and photos from it on social networks.
Slovan Bratislava assistant coach Ľuboš Benkovský on his own instagram announced that Slovan Bratislava will play three preparatory matches at the preparatory camp in Qatar. With two Qatari teams and also with Dynamo Moscow.
This has sparked outrage as Russian teams are banned from European competitions due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The boss of Slavia also commented on this Jaroslav Tvrdík: “Then we won’t play the preparatory match. He added a photo of Taras Kacharaba in a jersey with the inscription “We stand for Ukraine.”
Benkovský corrected his post, so it looked like there would be no friendlies with the Russian club and Slovan only had two matches against local clubs in Qatar.

However, the Bratislava club finally started the match, although it did not announce it on any of its official channels. However, Dynamo broadcast the match on their website and shared footage of the match on theirs social networks.
After returning from Qatar, Slovan was supposed to play his warm-up before the start of the spring season with Slavia. She already she announcedthat the planned match will not take place.
Slovan has two Georgian players Kankava and Kašia in the team, and they are certainly not interested in a match with the Russian team either. Last year supported the “Stop the War” initiative with their t-shirts with the inscriptions “Georgians are with Ukraine” and “Stay strong Ukraine”, even though the club did not join the initiative.
