MARTIN (SZĽH) – On the third day of play at the Orange Youth Championship of Slovakia 2024, it was decided who will advance to the main stage of the tournament for the champion in the category of senior AA pupils, and at the same time it was also decided about the title and medal positions in the category of teenagers. In the category of senior AA students, the hockey players of Slovan Bratislava were happy with their progress after the victory over Martin.

Senior AA students
Even though a three-goal loss was enough for Slovan to advance to the title fight, the first third already showed that they don’t think that way. In the eighth minute, after a nice combination, Šramatý still scored, but a minute later Haborák made it 1:0 with a shot on Bačé’s catcher. Soon after, Slovan added a second goal thanks to Potočka’s contribution as well. Before the break, Slovan scored one more time, when Hasaj and Šramaty even missed in their own weakness and the latter beat Junas with a backhand, who replaced Bačé in the Martin goal from the 11th minute.
Slovan controlled the match in the rest of the game. Moreover, in the 24th minute, Hasaj added the fourth goal to the Martin net. Although Martin increased his activity in the second period, which was also reflected in the number of shots. Shortly after the fourth conceded goal, Miľan mixed up Hornáček in an escape and cut it down. Slovan, however, regained a four-goal lead before the break, when Janča scored with an accurate shot in a separate attack. Even the third period did not bring anything new to the picture of the match. Slovan kept the opponent at a distance and scored one more time before the final siren when in the 46th minute he sealed the result with the sixth goal of his Potočka team.

The team from Trenčín had a better start to the match, creating several interesting chances. In the 3rd minute, Ondavský intervened when Harvánek and Strapko were outnumbered, but three minutes later, after a foul in front of his goal, he did not have to intervene, as Pecháč’s shot went over. In the 10th minute, however, Trenčín had already scored, Fajnor’s shot from the blue line went through a forest of bodies and hockey sticks to the goal – 1:0. However, the goal rather started Zvolenčany, who owned the action on the ice in the second half of the first period. In the 14th minute, Hrenák still resisted Zvolen’s conquest, but in the 16th minute, after Babinski’s shot from the blue line, he already capitulated. Not even a minute had passed and Zvolen was leading at once. Medved found his way best in front of Hrenák, who he beat with a shot over the trap. However, Zvolen did not hold the leadership for long. At the beginning of the 18th minute, Dömény’s shot went through Ondavský, the puck stopped just before the goal line, where Bórik was the first to find it, who easily slid it into the open goal – 2:2.
In the first minute, Židek from Trenčín was in a good position in front of Ondavský, but the goalkeeper from Zvolen stepped in with a rebounder. During the rest of the third, the Electors took the initiative, which resulted in goals in the Trenčany net. In the 28th minute, Hrušovský was the best in front of Hrenák, who sent his team into the lead again. In the 34th minute, it was already 4:2 from the point of view of Zvolenčany. Although Hrenák blocked Žiak’s shot with concrete, he was no longer entitled to Rajnoha’s subsequent shot. Towards the end of the third, the Trenčani got the opportunity of two power plays, but they were not successful. However, the elected officials did not pay attention to discipline even in the third period. In its opening minute, Trenčani got another opportunity, which after 11 seconds of the power play Obušek took advantage of Židek’s selfless pass – 4:3. The scored goal injected new blood into the veins of the people of Trenčín. Elected officials, on the other hand, paid extra for a number of exclusions. In the 47th minute, Obušek tied the score at 4:4 with his next power play goal. Subsequently, Zvolenčan could restore their lead, but the defense of Trenčín resisted the chances of Ivan and Medved. In the 53rd minute, Obušek could have completed a clean power-play hat-trick, but Ondavský’s catch was faster. However, the people of Trenčín did not have to regret the missed chance. 106 seconds before the end of regular time, Bórik shot through everything that stood in his way and completed Trenčín’s turnaround. Thanks to the victory, the people of Trencin secured the silver medals at worst, while in the event of any other result than Slovan winning by three points, they would have won the championship title.

The beginning of the match belonged to Nitra, which was more active and created more chances. Slovan, on the other hand, threatened mainly in power plays, of which Slovan had two in the opening act. In one of them, in the 13th minute, Antal shot dangerously, but Krčmár made a save against his shot. In the second period, Bojňanský could have sent Nitra into the lead in the 23rd minute, but Henriquez was confident in Slovan’s goal. The first goal was expected until the 28th minute, when Antal’s shot from the blue line was deflected by Tomaškovič during the power play and Krčmár was helpless. Four minutes later, Truchlý could have increased Slovan’s lead, who took the responsibility into his own hands in the renumbering, but did not overcome Krčmár. Nitra also created a scoring chance before the break. However, in the 39th minute, Krajči did not find a recipe for Henriquez.
Nitra failed to equalize even in the 44th minute, when Páleník was in a good position, but Henriquez held his team. However, his counterpart in the goal of Nitra Krčmár did not let himself be embarrassed either, who in the 48th minute had to be on duty for Trebul’s attempt and Floriš’s stops. As time went on, Nitra took over the initiative, which managed to tame Slovan. In the 49th minute, Krajči escaped due to his own weakness, but facing Henriquez, he aimed wide. Nitra finally got the equalizer in the 55th minute, when Henriquez Brath beat Henriquez Brath with a sharp shot, even thanks to the contribution of the upper post. With the situation balanced, Slovan threw their forces into the attack in an attempt to prevent their championship dream from disappearing, and they almost succeeded. In the 58th minute, Truchlý was in a good position, but Krčmár hit with a trap. 19 seconds before the end of regular time, when Slovan played with six skaters in the field, Krčmár was already overcome, but Ďurišin’s goal joy was ruined by the referees’ verdict.
Since no goal was scored even in the subsequent five-minute overtime, the winner of the match was decided by separate raids. Although Nitran Botka was successful in the first series, Nitra did not succeed in the next four series, while Trebula from Slovan prevailed in the second and third series, respectively. Smurf. By winning two points, Slovan won the silver medals, Nitre, on the other hand, not even a single point helped to get out of the fourth place of the tournament table.
