The coaches also pointed to the elite attackers Peter Cehlárik and Marko Hrivík, who play in the Swedish Leksand. The first named is even the team productivity leader with 18 points (7+11).
The Slovaks, just like last year, tried to build an attractive selection that will attract fans to the corridors of the Ondrej Nepela Winter Stadium in Bratislava. “We always try to put together the best possible team for the home tournament,” says Miroslav Šatan for the website hockeyslovakia.sk.
He believes that Slovakia will repeat last year’s triumph, decorated with 6:0 wins over Norway and 6:1 over Latvians. “When we play at home, we want to win. I believe that the fans will come to cheer us on and that together we will succeed,” adds the team’s GM.
The Slovak national team will meet in Bratislava on Monday, December 11. The first duel of the Christmas Kaufland Cup will be played two days later from 18:00 against Norway, the highlight of the event will be their duel with the surprise of the last WC Latvia at the same time on Friday.
