They resisted against the big favorite of the match for two thirds, after which the score was tied at 3:3. However, in the second part of the final third, the Swedes definitively decided on the victory with two goals, adding another to an empty net. The Slovak women are in the last fourth place of the basic B-group after two matches.

The Slovaks had an excellent start when they took the lead in the 2nd minute. Their first power play in the match was used by Nela Lopušanová, who quickly arrived with the puck after Lilien Beňáková’s shot – 1:0. The Swedes also scored from the first numerical advantage thanks to Mira Hallinová. She repeated her goal joy at the end of the first period, when she also scored on the power play – 1:2.
When Hilda Svensson made it 1-3 in the 28th minute, the favorite seemed to have the match under control. However, Tatiana Blichová won the puck for Lenka Karkošková in the 30th minute, whose shot went past goalkeeper Lovisa Lundströmová – 2:3. In seven minutes it was already tied after the action and the finish by Ema Tóthová – 3:3.
The vision of a valuable success for the Slovaks faded in the second half of the third period. The Swedes stepped up the pressure and Anna Brenkleová aimed precisely after the bounced puck – 3:4. Shortly after that, Svensson’s shot also ended up in the goal, which was also helped by an unfortunate run by Liana Tomaštíková – 3:5. The Slovaks tried to equalize during the game without a goalkeeper, but they conceded the sixth goal into an empty net.
The fights in the “B” will conclude with a match against the Swiss on Wednesday (from 4:00 p.m.). Subsequently, the quarter-finals await them.
