NEW YORK – Slovakian hockey defenseman Šimon Nemec contributed an assist to New Jersey’s 4:3 win over Montreal in Saturday’s NHL game. Juraj Slafkovský did not score in the guests’ jersey. It was the second match in the ongoing season, in which the two highest drafted Slovaks played against each other.
On Saturday, the German played in the second defensive pair with Kevin Bahl and spent 16:37 minutes on the ice. As the only ones in the match, they scored three plus points, the German also had two shots. He scored the pass after he joined the offensive action in the 38th minute and after his shot, the Czech forward Ondřej Palát put the puck into the goal. After 36 games, the German has 16 Canadian points for 2 goals and 14 assists.
Slafkovský played on the wing of the Canadiens’ elite attack with captain Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. He added a plus point and a shot on goal to his statistics, spending 21:42 minutes on the ice. He didn’t score in a Canadian game for the third straight game, before that he had a streak of eight games with at least one point. After 58 played duels, he has a record of 12 goals and 18 assists.
For the first time after eight games, it happened that the home team won the match between these teams. The Canadiens led both 1:0 and 2:1 in the match, but the home team scored three goals to make it 4:2. Jesper Bratt scored the winning goal, Montreal captain Nick Suzuki reduced the score to 4:3 with a second goal in the end. The Devils won after two losses and remain in 9th place in the Eastern Conference. The Canadiens did not score in the fifth meeting in a row and in the seventh of the past eight.
It was the second game in which Nemec and Slafkovský played against each other in the NHL. The first one took place on January 18, also on the ice of New Jersey, while Slafkovský enjoyed the 3:2 victory and his goal, and the German had an assist.

Tampa Bay hockey players won on the ice of New York Islanders 4:2 and ended the series of three losses. Slovak defender Erik Černák did not register in the Canadian scoring, he contributed to the triumph with one plus point. He started in the second defensive pair of the guests, spent 21:10 minutes on the ice and presented himself with one shot.
Detroit Red Wings players won over St. Louis Blues 6:1. They aimed for a convincing victory at the beginning of the match, when they built up a 3:0 lead by the 6th minute. Striker Alex DeBrincat, who had a balance of two goals and one assist, played the most significant role in the convincing victory of the “red wings”.
It was Detroit’s fourth win in a row and it cemented its position in the top eight of the Eastern Conference. In the second game against each other of the season, he scored six goals for the “bluesmen”, in the previous matchup he triumphed over the opponent 6:4. Players of St. Louis have lost their third of their last four games and are one point behind the top eight in the Western Conference.
