Slovakian ice hockey players got to know their opponent in the quarterfinals of the under-20 world championships. They finished second in Group B and will meet the third team from Group A, Finland.

Slovaks suffered their first loss in the championship and took 2nd place in the group with nine points, two points behind the overseas team. The name of the quarter-final opponent will be known by coach Ivan Feneš’s team after the remaining meetings of the tangled A-group have been played.
It was decided only by the last match of the basic groups, in which Canada defeated Germany 6:3, taking second place and condemning the Germans to the last place, so they will play for salvation against Norway.
Sweden and Switzerland, Canada and the Czech Republic and the USA and Latvia will form other quarterfinal pairs. Slovakia should play its duel on Tuesday, January 2, from 12:00 p.m. However, this date has yet to be officially confirmed by the tournament organizer.
