Slovakian star Richard Pánik created an unprecedented show on the Porub ice in the raids. The experienced attacker poked the puck with the tip of the blade and surprised not only goalkeeper Šimon Hrubec.
“I think I’ll probably be worldwide for a while now. Maybe I’ll see myself in some highlights, but not from the good side,” described the Czech goalkeeper immediately after the match in an interview with ČT.

“He did it skillfully, it will surprise the goalkeeper. You count on everything but this. There is not much to add to that, he showed skill,” he said of the experienced forward with 521 starts in the NHL.
“Now the question is whether he would do it at the World Cup, for example, it is done well in a friendly match,” added Šimon Hrubec with a smile. And he wasn’t the only one who was surprised by Richard Pánik.
“I’ve seen something like this for the very first time. It can be seen that he has it in his hands, so he can afford it,” says striker Radan Lenc, who finally broke the raid lottery with a goal in the third series.
Although Pánik’s brazen performance did not lead to a win, the Slovaks lost 2:3, but after the match, perhaps more than the Czech invincibility in preparation for the World Cup, it was his backroom that was talked about…
“I’ve tried it a few times before, so I tried again. I have it trained, and when I hit the spot I have, the goalkeeper doesn’t react to it.”
“I’ve tried it a few times before, so I tried again. I didn’t hit it very well, but it worked. I already knew before the raid that I had it trained, and if I hit the spot I have, the goalkeeper won’t react to it. I have trained for this spot,” Pánik described for the website iSport.cz.
