LIVERPOOL – In the New Year’s match of the 20th round of the English Premier League, FC Liverpool won over Newcastle United 4:2 and consolidated their position as the leader of the competition.
Not even the brilliant performance of the Slovakian national team goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka was enough for the guests to score a point. In the 22nd minute, he neutralized Mohamed Salah’s eleven and distinguished himself during countless other clean chances of “The Reds” players.

However, in the second half he was beaten twice by Salah and once by Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo. Salah’s second goal in the match came from the penalty spot after a foul by Dúbravka on Diogo Jota, after which the Slovakian goalkeeper saw a yellow card.
Liverpool won at their stadium for the third time, having previously drawn 0-0 with Manchester United and 1-1 with Arsenal London.
It is first in the table with a three-point lead over Aston Villa, five points are lost by Manchester City (one game less) and Arsenal London. Newcastle lost in the league for the third time in a row and is in ninth place.
