FRANKFURT – Slovakian hockey goalkeeper Július Hudáček scored a 3:2 win over Ingolstadt in his debut for the German club Frankfurt Löwen. His team thus ended a ten-game losing streak in the highest German competition.
The 35-year-old Slovak agreed on a contract with the German team until the end of the season after the express finish in Kladno, Czech Republic, and made his debut in Thursday’s match. He made 23 saves with it and had a 92% success rate. It was his first game since the end of last season. Thanks to the narrow win, Frankfurt moved up to the eleventh place in the table.
The silver medalist from the 2012 World Cup originally signed a contract until the end of the season with the Czech Kladno, but this move was met with displeasure by some Kladno fans, who were bothered by the fact that Hudáček wore the jersey of the Kazakh team Barys Astana operating in the KHL last season. For Barys, he caught 42 matches in the regular season, in which he picked up 16 victories in regular time, of which he recorded a clean sheet three times.
