Slovakian hockey forward Tomáš Tatar scored two goals and an assist in New Jersey’s 6-2 win over Buffalo.

Players from Winnipeg and Florida secured the definitive promotion on Wednesday night. Boston claimed its seventh triumph in a row and broke the previous NHL record with 133 points in one season.

Tomas Tatar first, in the 22nd minute, he caught the puck in his own zone, pulled it into the attacking zone and blocked the space well in front of goalkeeper Devon Levi on an accurate shot by Jonas Siegenthaler from the blue. In the 48th minute, he received a pass from Damon Severson on the left circle and promptly made it 4:1. He scored the second goal two and a half minutes before the end, when he converted into an empty net to make it 5:2. The Sabers conceded for the second time without a goalkeeper in an attempt to save the hope of promotion. After the loss, however, they definitely missed the playoffs. On the contrary, the Devils secured at least second place in the Metropolitan Division and thus secured the advantage of the home environment in the first round.

Winnipeg triumphed on the ice of Minnesota 3:1 and secured the second free card and the last place in the playoffs in the West. In the Eastern Conference, the situation was more complicated, but on Thursday night, Buffalo failed, and surprisingly, Pittsburgh also lost to one of the worst teams of the season, Chicago, at home 2:5. It means Florida, which didn’t even play on the night, got the first wild card. The Penguins and the New York Islanders will battle for second in their final regular season duels. However, the “Penguins” have a big disadvantage, in addition to having to win on the ice of Columbus, they need the “Islanders” not to get a single point in the home match against Montreal.

Already a long time ago, the certain winner of the President’s Trophy Boston claimed another record of the competition. Thanks to the triumph over Washington 5:2, he collected 133 points in the current season, which no one has managed to do in the regular season. The Bruins surpassed Montreal’s record of more than four decades, which was achieved by one less point in 1976/77. In addition, Boston added 64 wins on the season, which improved its record for the number of triumphs in the regular season of the NHL. He reached it already on Monday night on the ice of Philadelphia (63).
