PARIS – The captain of the Slovak national football team, Milan Škriniar, underwent a successful operation on his left ankle on Monday. The 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender was operated on by Dr. Pieter D’Hooghe in Doha, Qatar. The Parisians informed about it through the official profile on the X social network.
“He will be resting for the next few days, then he will begin his recovery,” the club said in a short statement, in which it did not specify the length of Škriniar’s absence. It is estimated for several weeks or months. His participation in this year’s EC in Germany remains questionable.
Škriniar injured his ankle in Wednesday’s match for the French Super Cup against FC Toulouse (2:0). Škriniar won his first trophy with PSG since his summer transfer from Inter Milan, but he did not finish the duel in the Park of the Princes and in the 71st minute gave up his place on the pitch to the Brazilian Lucas Beraldo. He arrived in Paris from Sao Paulo at the end of December.
