New COVID strains are being recorded in the country, which were brought by residents who were vacationing abroad. Since the beginning of 2021, about 30 thousand Slovaks have traveled outside the country.

The emergency regime in Slovakia has been in effect since October 1, 2020, and since January 1, quarantine aimed at minimizing contacts of citizens has been tightened. From 20:00 to 01:00 there is a curfew, and from 05:00 to 20:00 it is forbidden to leave the premises without a good reason.

The population of Slovakia is about 5.5 million citizens, of whom more than 346 thousand people fell ill with the coronavirus. The number of deaths is about nine thousand.
