BRATISLAVA – The Slovak national football team will start preparations for the European Championship 2024 with a home match against Austria, which will take place on Saturday, March 23 at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava. The official website of the Slovak Football Association informed about it.
Slovakia has met Austria in five meetings so far, in which they recorded one win, three draws and one loss, with a score of 3:4 in favor of Austria.
So far, they have welcomed their neighbors on home soil only once, in March 2004 coach Dušan Galis’ team drew 1:1 with Austria at Tehelno polí. Marek Mintál scored the goal in the 74th minute, Roland Kollmann equalized for the guests in the last minute of the match.
The last time Slovakia and Austria met before leaving for European Championship 2020, a goalless draw 0:0 was born in Vienna in June 2021.
