Slovakia Raises 700 Thousand Euros to Send Weapons to Ukraine despite Government Opposition

The fundraising campaign is the result of the efforts of several organizations and activists with years of experience. Among these organizations are “Mier Ukraine” (“Peace for Ukraine”), “Darček pre Putina” (“A gift for Putin”), “Donio” and “All4Ukraine” (“All for Ukraine”).

Many famous people support the campaign, including Otto Šimko, who was almost 100 years old, who was a partisan and a prisoner of German occupation during the Second World War.

“It is impossible to negotiate with the aggressors; they must be defeated. This experience from the Second World War also applies to Ukraine,” Shymko said in the video, giving support the campaign.

The fundraising campaign is also supported by former foreign minister and Western diplomat Ivan Korczok, who lost the April 6 presidential run to Fico ally Peter Pellegrini.

“Why did I support this fundraiser? It is very simple. Our nearest neighbor has been attacked, he is defending himself, and this is impossible without weapons. Several government ministers, in their comments on this money, said they would not support it.
