LAST GAME AGAINST HIMSELF:
The national teams of Finland and Slovakia last met in the summer in a major tournament in the under 20 category. In the final performance in the basic group, however, Suomi clearly outperformed us and won an excellent 9:3.
Slovakia – Finland 3:9 (1:2, 1:4, 1:3)
Goals: 1. Simontaival (Hirvonen), 15. Määttä, 21. Hirvonen (Simontaival, Puutio), 32. Määttä (Järventie, Kemell), 37. Räty (Kemell, Niemela), 39. Kapanen (Rafkin, Järventie), 47 . .
The Slovakian under-20 hockey team will enter the world championship. Ivan Fenes’ men will be challenged by the Finns, who will be considered paper favorites in the match.
Finland has already entered the tournament. On Monday, Suomi played Switzerland in their opening match of the tournament. However, the northerners could not handle this duel at all and finally succumbed to the Helvéts 2:3 after extra time. Virtually nothing worked for the Finns in this encounter and they will need to do much better against Slovakia.
Slovakia have their first game ahead of them. Ivan Feneš’s team arrives with a clear goal. This to make up for the embarrassment that happened in the summer, when our team hadn’t even progressed to the quarter-finals. There was a change in our team and leaders like Šimon Nemec and Filip Mešár came. In preparation, we gradually lost to Germany 0:5, Canada 1:6 and Austria 5:1.
We welcome you to the online broadcast. The meeting will start at 17:00.
