Slovak hockey players will start today from 7.15 pm against Denmark in the goal again with Július Hudáček. After the loss to Switzerland 1: 8, several changes took place in the line-up of the Slovak Republic, two of which were forced for one-match penalties by defender Mislav Rosandič and forward Kristián Pospíšil.

Samuel Kňažko will replace Rosandič in the first defensive pair, who will move from the third defensive pair. This will be created by Adam Jánošík by Mário Grman, who did not play against the Swiss. Martin Bučko will also return to the Slovak team, replacing Šimon Nemc in the second defensive pair next to Marek Ďalog.

“We got a lesson, but after the match we showed mistakes and analyzed it. In the first period we did not play badly, but we gradually gave up the sacrificial game and stopped blocking shots. This resulted in collected goals. We still have a lot of matches ahead of us, so we have to focus on the nearest ones, “remarked the assistant coach Andrej Podkonický.

The match with the Swiss was not completed by the striker Marek Hrivík, who resigned after the 2nd period. “I didn’t feel the best in the previous days, but in the first two thirds it was still quite right. Then we decided that it would be better not to go to the third third,” Hrivík said.

The Slovak hockey player continued with the addition that his participation in the match with Denmark will be decided definitively on the day of the match. While in the case of Hrivík it is probable that he will enter the match, the situation with Kristián Pospíšil and Mislav Rosandič is questionable.

Both received penalties in the match with Switzerland until the end of the match. On Thursday, they completed interviews before the disciplinary commission of the World Championships, which was to decide on a possible additional punishment. “We will probably know the result later. That’s why we can’t comment on the Danish line-up yet. Hrivík should be fine and other players don’t report any problems either. The Slovaks will also face Nicklas Jensen, who was the most productive player in the championship after the 7th day of play, in a duel with Denmark. Just like the Slovak Peter Cehlárik scored 7 points, scored 4 goals.

“We played in one team on a farm in Hartford, we even started in formation. A skilled hockey player, after arriving at the Jokerit in the KHL, he plays incredibly. He confirms this at these World Championships,” Hrivík remarked.

The Slovaks want to make Denmark forget about the losing to Switzerland and take an important step towards participating in the quarterfinals. It would be a victory for three points. “We know that we need points. There is an opponent who should be defeated for us. We all know that we had a good start to the tournament, now we have to bring it to the desired end,” said Hrivík.

Slovakia and Denmark have so far played a total of 19 mutual matches. The balance speaks for the Slovaks, who won 14 times, 5 matches were for the Danes. They have been competing in the elite category tournament continuously since their debut in 2003. Since then, they have met the Slovak Republic seven times at the championships. The Slovak team won five times, in 2010 and 2017 the Danes triumphed. So far, they have played the last match at the 2019 World Championships in Košice, when the Slovaks won 2: 1 after separate raids.
