Slovakia conquered Baník. Own goal decided, Krmenčík started for the first time

The most important thing happened for both opponents in a week through mutual duel. Ostravský Baník was already eliminated in the European Cup in the preliminary round, when it was not enough in the penalty shootout against Copenhagen. Slovácko hired Michael Krmenčík, a former representative and league top scorer from the 2017/2018 season, who started the match on the bench. Slovácko started with the same line-up as in the previous round in Pardubice. Captain Vlastimil Daníček was already on the bench after a long-term injury.

The match started at a brisk pace, the home team created the first scoring chance after thirteen minutes of play. Havlík got to the rebounded ball, who shot beautifully, the shot went into the gallows. Ostrava goalkeeper Holec Slovácko didn’t allow the goal joy, he kicked the shot into the corner.

Baník responded three minutes later with Kubala, but goalkeeper Heča also saved his shot. The match continued at a brisk pace, the Baník players showed no signs of fatigue from Thursday’s cup match against Copenhagen.

Ten minutes before halftime, Slovácko could have taken the lead, but Hofmann’s header from five meters was weak and Holec blocked his shot. That was a clear scoring position.

In the last minute of the first act, Slovácko took the lead. After Michal Kohút’s shot, Ostrava Chaluš changed the direction of the ball. The boy was helpless – 1:0.

The beginning of the second half belonged to Baník, who moved into the Slovácko half. The vast majority of chances, or half-chances, ended with the attentive defense of the home team.

In the 55th minute, the new reinforcement of Slovácko goes into the fight – Pavel Juroška is replaced by Michael Krmenčík.

Ten minutes later, Buchta ventilated Heča, but even this shot did not end up in Slovácko’s net.

Baník has a significant advantage in the game, however, there are no clear scoring chances. The defenders of Slovácko deflected all the balloons or jumped away.

Eight minutes before the end, Buchta saw a second yellow card and then a red card after a tackle on Trávník, and he goes to the showers prematurely. The miner will finish at ten.

Slovácko already survived the final eight-minute setting and won on home turf for the first time in this calendar year. The fans could celebrate – Slovácko won at home after nine unsuccessful matches.
