The “Falcons” will compete against peers from the Czech Republic (September 7 at 6 p.m. in Uherský Hradiště), Denmark (September 11 at 6 p.m. in Vejla) and Poland (October 13 in Košice) in international preparatory duels. In Uherské Hradiště, it will be the thirteenth match between young people from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Slovaks won three times, the match ended in a draw three times, and the Czechs won six times. The score is 17:21.
Subsequently, the 20-unit team will perform in Velje, Denmark. Young Slovaks will welcome Poles in Košice in October. “We also started negotiating the preliminary match with Poland immediately after the draw for the qualification for the European Championship, which will be played in our country. The preliminary agreement has been finalized and we are happy to compete with another of our neighbors and, of course, a high-quality opponent.” said Goljan.
The second largest Slovak city can look forward to national football again. “Ačko” last played in the metropolis of the East in 1998, when they defeated Azerbaijan 3:0. It will be a premiere for the under-21 team. “We wanted to play in Košice earlier, and now it is possible, since the new stadium is already in operation. We are happy that we can play there now, we believe that many fans will come to cheer us on.” stated Goljan.
The second opponent of the under-21 national team in October will be the team of the top competition MFK Dukla Banská Bystrica, they will play at the National Training Center in Poprad (October 17, 2023). “Other national teams already have a schedule for this date, but we also wanted to use this association date for a double match. That’s why we agreed on a match with Banská Bystrica, which welcomed the opportunity to play a duel with us.” added the assistant coach of the Slovak twenty-one team.
