news-item-description">Slovak skier Petra Vlhová finished fifth in the giant slalom of the World Cup in Tremblant, Canada. The podium was completed by Lara Gutová-Behramiová from Switzerland (+0.33) and the American Mikaela Shiffrinová (+0.39 s).
She took second place in the first giant slalom. Although she was pleased to return to the podium, she was not completely satisfied with the result, as she wanted to win.
news-item-description">Slovak skier Petra Vlhová finished in second place in Saturday’s giant slalom of the World Cup. In the Canadian resort of Tremblant, she was not enough only for the Italian Federica Brignone, behind whom she was 21 hundredths of a second behind. In the 2nd round, she set the best time of all the competitors. The podium was completed by the third American Mikaela Shiffrin (+0.29).
She was close to winning after the opening round of the second race, when she performed the fastest ride. However, she was not able to confirm it, as the unfavorable weather significantly affected the second round. In it, she trailed the winner Federica Brignone by almost two seconds.
“The first round turned out great and I hoped that I would perform similarly in the 2nd round. I did my best, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the podium today, as I believe the conditions were not the same for all competitors today.
Visibility during the second lap for the last runners was close to zero and dangerous. I believe that if such conditions had existed before the first round, we would not have even started.” she stated on her Instagram profile.
“Whoever follows my career knows that I never make such public statements and that throughout my career I have always respected all other athletes. I want to congratulate the other girls on today’s result, as they performed brilliantly, but it’s also not up to us to decide whether we race or not…”
