Slovak Motor Racing Driver Štefan Svitko Finishes Eighth in Two-Day Sixth Stage of Dakar Rally

ŠUBAJTAH – Slovak motorcycle racer Štefan Svitko took eighth place in the two-day sixth stage of the Dakar Rally.

He lost 21:19 minutes to the winning Frenchman Adrien van Beveren, in the overall ranking he is ninth. Frenchman Alexandre Giroud triumphed in four-wheelers, Slovakian Juraj Varga finished in fourth place with a loss of 1:18:46 h. The same rank also belongs to him in the overall classification.

Toby Price from Australia came to the finish line behind the victorious van Beveren, and American Ricky Brabec completed Friday’s podium. At the same time, he moved to the leading position of the overall classification ahead of Ross Branch from Botswana.

Varga maintained his fourth position overall. After the marathon stage, he is more than two hours behind the leading Argentine Manuel Andujar.

In the category of trucks, the Czech Martin Macík won supremely, he arrived at the finish line ahead of his rivals with more than an hour’s lead. The Frenchman Sebastien Loeb was the fastest among the cars.

The sixth stage of this year’s Dakar was a two-day event for the first time, the riders had to stop at the nearest bivouac on Thursday and did not have their team at their disposal until the finish line in Šubaitah.
