Slovak ice hockey players will meet Finland in the quarter-finals of the WC under-20 players. It was decided only in the final matches in the basic A-group, in which Finland won over Sweden 5:4 after raids and the Canadians defeated Germany 6:3. The Slovaks will play against Suomi on Tuesday in the Frölundaborg hall, the times will be specified by the tournament directorate in the next few hours.
The Americans, as the winners of Group B, will meet the fourth team from “A” Latvia in the quarterfinals, while the Czechs will face the Canadians. The winners of Group A, the Swedes, are fighting for progress against Switzerland. Norway and Germany did not make it to the top eight and they have a fight to stay among the elite.
Slovakia’s opponent will be decided by the last match. There are still up to three teams in the game
The pairings for the semi-finals will be decided by the seeding of the teams after the basic groups. The highest-seeded team advancing from the quarter-finals will meet the fourth-seeded team, the second-seeded team will play the third-seeded team. The WC final is scheduled for Friday, January 5 at 7:30 p.m.
