BRATISLAVA – The leadership of the Slovak Ice Hockey Association has extended the deadline for clubs to register for the new year of professional, amateur and youth competitions managed by the association. The original one was supposed to expire on May 31.
“Negotiations between the clubs of the extra league and the SZĽH are still ongoing. The clubs have asked the union to extend the deadline for signing up for the competition until June 9, 2023,” it is stated in the opinion of SZľH.
In mid-May, nine extra-league clubs affiliated with the Professional Hockey League announced that they want to manage their own competition next season. The PHL is an organization founded by extra-league clubs with the aim of creating a professional and professional structure to manage the hockey competition.
Professional clubs from the Extraliga and the Slovak Hockey League could apply for competitions for the 2023/2024 season from May 15.
