Slovak Hockey Players Shine in AHL: Demek, Sýkora, and Kelemen Impress on the Ice

The overseas AHL continued on the night from Saturday to Sunday with the second day of play and three Slovak hockey players got into the action – forwards Jakub Demek, Adam Sýkora and Miloš Kelemen.

Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jakub Demek became the most successful of the three, who was happy about the first Canadian point in the AHL. On the contrary, the defenders are still waiting for their first start in the new season Patrick Koch so Samuel Kňažek and attacker Filip Mešárwho were missing from their teams’ lineups today.

The Henderson Silver Knights ran into the Minnesota Wild farm, that is, the Iowa Wild, just like yesterday and today. The position of the fourth center was held by a Slovak attacker Jakub Demek and the native of Košice waited until the end of the game for his first Canadian point, when he scored a secondary assist on Sheldon Rempal’s goal with less than three minutes to go.

This accurate strike by the Canadian striker closed the match and the Silver Knights enjoyed a 7-3 victory. In the match, still only 20-year-old Jakub Demek also earned two plus points for being on the ice during the scored goals and also two penalty minutes for holding the stick during the 1st period.

Slovak striker Adam Sýkora and his Hartford Wolf Pack headed to Springfield, where a duel against the Thunderbirds awaited them. The main star of the match was the 30-year-old American forward Jonny Brodzinski with two accurate hits, when he first sent his team to a one-goal lead during the power play and then in the end secured the victory 3:1 with a goal into an empty net. Adam Sýkora recorded one shooting attempt in the statistics.

Yesterday’s shooter also got into the action Miloš Kelemen in the colors of the Tucson Roadrunners, who also faced the “stars” from Texas today. The Slovakian striker started on the left wing of the third attack and this time he did not get on the score sheet despite the shooting attempt.

However, his team managed the second meeting in a row and rejoiced at the 2:1 win. Even today, however, the Slovak defender was absent from the Tucson line-up Patrick Koch. So he will have to wait for his premiere overseas.

Statistics of Miloš Kelemen:
shots on goal: 1

The striker will still have to wait for his first start in the new season Filip Mešár, who did not make it into the lineup even in Laval Rocket’s second appearance. The Montreal Canadiens prospect spent the past season in the Canadian OHL, and his return to the Canadian junior team is increasingly being mentioned, where he should join the league’s best players and get the necessary space to develop his potential. The Cleveland Monsters have also made their first appearance, unfortunately in a line-up without a defender Samuel Kňažek.
