Slovak hockey player Šimon Nemec scored a goal in the night preparatory match before the start of the new NHL season and contributed to the victory of the New Jersey Devils on the ice of the New York Islanders 3:0.
The 19-year-old defender scored in the 29th minute at the end of a breakaway and sealed the victory for the guests. The support of the “devils” was the Swiss goalkeeper Akira Schmid, who eliminated 30 shots.
“I saw a chance. I tried to use it and I managed to score a goal,” said the German, who played almost 22 minutes, for the club’s official website. In addition to the goal, he also recorded two plus points. In total, he started in the preseason period in four meetings and scored four points (2+2). The Slovakian winger started in Calgary’s third attacking formation Adam Ružička. He played almost 13 minutes and did not score points, he served a two-minute penalty at the end of the first period for dangerous play with a high stick. His team lost to Vancouver 1:3.
