Slovak hockey fans will be able to watch matches of the highest domestic competition from the new 2023/24 season on JOJ Šport screens. This was reported by the Slovak Ice Hockey Association (SZĽH), which entered into cooperation with the company Slovenská produkčná.
The televised hockey season will start on Monday, July 31, with matches from the prestigious Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Trenčín, which will feature the world’s elite in the under-18 category. During the year, TV broadcasts from the men’s extra league, TIPOS SHL, JOJ Sport Slovak Cup, as well as the men’s world championships, hockey players under 20 and also players under 18 will appear on the screens during the year. The program will be supplemented by broadcasts from international tournaments, at which Slovak national teams will be presented.
“We already tried cooperation with JOJ Šport in previous seasons, and thanks to it, matches of TIPOS SHL, youth national teams, the SR 18 project in the second highest competition, and matches of the Slovak Cup, which until then were missing from the television offer in our market, were shown on television screens. We are happy that the cooperation is being extended to include the broadcasting of the Men’s Extra League,” said SZĽH general secretary Miroslav Lažo to hockeyslovakia.sk.
The rights to TV broadcasting of the extra league are the property of SZĽH, and the Slovak Ice Hockey Association is negotiating with the clubs of the highest competition regarding the other marketing rights of the extra league. The representatives of extraleague clubs have committed to the creation of a new interest association that should exercise these marketing rights.
