“We all knew we played badly in the last two games. However, we showed a good response. If we put everything into it from the first minute and play attacking football, it turns out that the opponent barely gets a sniff of the match. It was a one-goal game. I’m glad we kept a clean sheet,” said Bénes, according to HSV’s official website.
In the course of the season so far, the 26-year-old native of Dunajská Streda recorded six accurate hits and three goal assists. However, according to Hamburg coach Tim Walter, he did not show his best after the September international break, especially in Elversberg and Osnabrück, where Hamburg lost identically 1:2.
“He showed good things in both Elversberg and Osnabrück, but overall he was too slow.” commented Walter according to the website kicker.de, adding that Bénes seemed to lack more commitment.
“That meant he was always one step slower. He will definitely work on it and perform like before again. That is his goal and it is also a request from our side towards him. We know what’s in it,” commented the 47-year-old captain of Hamburg even before the duel against Fortune Düsseldorf.
