Küng confirmed his time trial qualities, two Belgians reached the podium together with him. Remco Evenepoel from the Soudal Quick-Step stable finished second with a six-second deficit, Wout van Aert from the Jumbo-Visma team (+10) took the third position.
“In the morning, I thought to myself how many more times I will finish in the Top 5 without winning. It was very close, but I finally managed to win, even in front of my family and fans here in Switzerland. I will try to go all out in the hills and try to keep the jersey as as long as possible,” the specialized portal cycling-info.sk quoted Küng as saying.
On Monday, there is a 174 km long undulating 2nd stage from Beromünster to Nottwil at the Tour of Switzerland, the general before the TdF.
