The Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Bratislava turned to the Bratislava-Nové Mesto district with a request to ban the Slovnaft Cup final, which is to take place between ŠK Slovan and FC Spartak Trnava on Sunday, May 8 at the National Football Stadium.

The members of the Executive Committee of the Slovak Football Association approved the meeting at the Slovan Bratislava home stand, as SFZ is the organizer of the finals. “In connection with this football match, the Regional Directorate of the Bratislava Police Force turned to the Bratislava-Nové Mesto district today with a request to ban this sporting event, pointing out several security risks and even a possible threat to life and health.
According to the police, the organizer himself described this event as risky. Tickets for Slovan and Spartak fans were sold for cup derbies. The ban for rivals, which prevents fans of both clubs from visiting the opponent’s stadium until the end of the season, does not apply to the duel.
It is still not entirely clear where the competition for the Slovnaft Cup will take place. One of the possibilities is a stadium in Trnava, but, as we also learned, Spartak does not intend to host this meeting.
In the October match of the 11th round of the Fortuna League, there were big riots right on the field at the Anton Malatinský Stadium in Trnava. The match was interrupted in about 15 minutes and later reviewed in favor of the guests.
The Slovan – Trnava duel is in the highest football league in Slovakia on the program on Sunday, May 1, but only with the participation of domestic fans.
