SLM signs leasing contract for new aircraft

In September, the Supervisory Board of Surinam Airways approved the phase-in process of the B737-800 and this morning the leasing agreement for the B737-800 was signed with one of the largest leasing companies in the world, AerCap.

The B737-800 will be used on the regional route, but is currently registered in the United States in Arizona in the United States of America.

Today the “demonstration flight” will also take place in this state under the watchful eye of Surinam Airways observers, Astrid Deira (regional pilot operation chief) and Derrick Gemerts (production maintenance manager).

CASAS inspector Roberto Macnack was also on site for the necessary inspections. After this demonstration flight, some technical issues will need to be resolved before the aircraft can be transported to Suriname.

For the past three and a half months, all the players have been working together to realize ownership of the B737-800.

For Surinam Airways a very important moment after a turbulent period. The employees, BP-SLM, VSV, the Supervisory Body, as well as the shareholder have made a contribution that should not be underestimated. The company remains committed to taking the service to the next level. Having your own flight equipment and identity on board is of paramount importance.

The Interim Chief Executive Officer, Steven Gonesh, in the presence of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Ganesh Laigsingh, thanked the entire staff for their patience, understanding, input and performance.
