Slippery roads in many places – more accidents in the morning – NRK Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

The emergency services responded to a car that had driven into the ditch at Jarlsberglinna in Tønsberg. Three people are out of the car, all in good shape. Traffic was stopped for a period for the recovery of the car.

– It’s slippery, the car has spun and ended up on its side. Those in the car have been checked for health. We secured the scene of the accident and barricaded it to prevent spillage from the diesel tank, says deputy fire chief Even-Torstein Haughem of the Vestfold intermunicipal fire service.

Rhyme on the ground

On-duty meteorologist Hanne Beate Skattør says that there are large local differences in Eastern Norway. Cold pits with cold, heavy air can form in several places.

Today the weather is clear with moist air, and then frost can quickly form on the ground during the night. It can lead to slippery roads that are difficult to see in some places, says Skattør.

Reversal in temperature

There is a slight change in the temperature now, which means it can be slippery, says Tone Kleiv, traffic operator at Vegtrafikksentralen south.

There has been an accident involving five cars on national highway 25 at Vangli in Hamar in Innlandet. Two of the cars collided and three others drove off the road to avoid crashing into them. No one was injured, reports the police in Innlandet.

The accident scene at Hamar has been cleared and the road is open again.

The police in Øst have received several reports of traffic accidents in the early hours of the morning. It is reported that it is particularly slippery on several of the roads in Nedre Romerike, the police write on Twitter. They ask people to drive according to the conditions.

Vegtrafikksentralen East informs NRK that they have not received reports of problems on the main roads.

– But there can be problems on the smaller roads, where there is snow and ice. Because it has been mild and then there will be ice cover, says traffic operator Christofa Key-Nilsen.

Problems also in Western Norway

The police in the South-West also report problems. In Bømlo in Vestland, a car has driven into the guardrail. It is slippery on the spot.

It is slippery on the roads in the entire county, reports Vegtrafikksentralen West. Traffic operator Monica Øksengård says that all the crew are out salting and spreading. There has been rainfall which has now frozen and Øksengård advises people to drive carefully.
