Slipknot founding member Joey Jordison has died. He was 46 years old

The cause of Jordison’s death was not reported by the family, but he died in his sleep. “His demise left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sadness,” the closest said in a statement.

Jordison was one of the founding members of Slipknot in 1995, along with Shawn Cruhan (drums / percussion) and Paul Gray (bass guitar). The band released their debut album four years later under the same name.

The band became very popular. Not only has it been successful in the United States, it has sold millions of albums around the world and won several Grammy Awards.

Slipknot is known for its unique aggressive musical style and its members wear horror-style masks when playing.

Jordison was part of the band until 2013. He later revealed that he left after doctors diagnosed him with transverse myelitis, an inflammatory process in the spinal cord that has lasting consequences.

The drummer was born in 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to Slipknot, he reaped success with other bands and later performed with, for example, Metallica, Korn or Rob Zombie.

Of the founding members of Slipknot, only Shawn Cruhan lives. Gray died in 2010 after a drug overdose.
