Slightly injured firefighter in Oslo – rail traffic disrupted after house fire

– A firefighter was slightly injured in connection with putting out a house fire in Høybråten in Oslo on Friday night. The firefighter was assisted by the ambulance at the scene, operations director Gjermund Stokkli of the Oslo police district told NRK.

There’s a massive fire in the single-family house.

– It will probably burn for quite some time to come, says Stokkli

There are two people registered at home, and both have been accounted for. None of them are injured.

The smoke divers have been inside the building.

– Is there a risk that the fire could spread to nearby houses?

– No, the firefighters are in control of it, says Stokkli.

Stationary in railway traffic:

– The detached house is right next to a train line. Firefighting work leads to a lot of smoke in the area, which has brought a halt to train traffic beyond the scene of the fire, Stokkli says

Bane Nor reports that it is rail traffic between Grorud and Lillestrøm.

Høybråtenveien between Starveien and Stovnerveien is also closed to traffic due to the fire.

Area residents are encouraged to keep doors and windows closed due to all the smoke in the area.

Police received a report of the fire at 11.10pm Thursday night.
