Not the camper. (Image: Unsplash)
We often see old vans that have been transformed into a camper by creative people. But a Citroën 2CV as the basis for a camper van is a very special choice. Yet it is certainly possible, as an enthusiastic Swiss proves.
Enthusiast or not, a Citroën 2CV (the ugly duckling) is recognizable to everyone. The car has now reached classic status and is appreciated and cherished. But sleeping in the French, that goes a long way.
The Citroën 2CV as a camper
Not for Bernd, who converted his Citroën 2CV into a camper. At least, ‘converted’ might be a big word. By making some simple adjustments, he can sleep in the 3.86 meter long Citroën. It is not a full double bed. But if you are not too wide, you can sleep with two people for a night. This is partly due to the extra space that has been created at the back of the ‘camper’.
In the box at the back you will also find a kitchenette and a little bit of storage space. The Citroën 2CV will never really be a luxury motorhome, but it is certainly charming and striking.
Skoda camper that would never be built is now here!
Before its life as a camper, this Citroen was a 2CV Special from the 1980s. Under the hood is a 602 cc air-cooled two-cylinder that produces 29 hp. Shifting is done manually through a four-speed gearbox.
Slightly more spacious camper
If a Citroën 2CV is a bit too small, but you don’t want a large camper either, you may be able to convert a Japanese Kei van into a camper van. Autovisie gives you three suggestions.
