In July 2020, the District Court in Płock invalidated the order Sławomir Świerzyński to cease infringement of copyrights to the song “Tawerna Pod Pijanej Zgrają”. The author unsuccessfully demanded this from Świerzyński.
Sławomir Świerzyński: the court verdict in the case of “Tawerna pod Pijana Zgraja”
Świerzyński appealed against this judgment. As now reported by “Gazeta Wyborcza”, On September 30, 2021, a final judgment was passed in this case. The Court of Appeal in Łódź upheld the appealed decision.
As “Wyborcza” reminds, in July 2020 the District Court in Płock determined that the author of the music and lyrics for the piece was Grzegorz Bukała – co-founder and leader of the band Wały Jagiellońskie.
The piece from over 40 years ago was published in 1994 by Bayer Full, but without the knowledge and consent of Bukała. The song was included on the album “Tourist Biesiada” by the band with a fictional author of words and music.
Świerzyński has to apologize to the rightful author of the song “Tawerna pod Pijanej Zgrają” on the band’s website and stop distributing the piece after 27 years. He is also obliged to destroy any physical media on which “Tawerna pod Pijana Zgrają” was recorded with the note about the fictional author.
Recall that the leader of Bayer Full before, you infringed copyright by a court decision which found the singer guilty of profiting from someone else’s property. The musician faced 3 years in prison, but the court limited him to fining him – he had to pay 14 thousand zlotys to Haga Film. PLN 751. Bayer Full’s leader decided to appeal, but the District Court in 2008 upheld the verdict.

Sławomir Świerzyński is TVP expert
Sławomir Świerzyński has been invited many times as an expert to TVP.
