As the Polish Press Agency has found out unofficially, there will be about 30 seats searched on this matter by Tuesday. Stanisław Żaryn pointed out that the case is developmental and further detentions are not excluded. He emphasized that this was only the first stage of the investigation, which will be continued. He informed that the detainees would be transported to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw on Monday, where the interrogations would begin.
As underlined, searches are carried out with Ukrainian Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), Polish CBA and Polish Prosecutor’s Office as part of a joint investigation.
The international investigation group conducts activities in the offices of the Ukrainian state road agency Ukrawtodor, companies participating in tenders of this institution and in the places of residence of former agency officials and Polish citizens, “probable participants of a criminal organization”.
NABU added that as part of the investigation in Poland, the former head of Ukrawtodor, a Polish citizen, was detained in connection with suspected corruption. It has been announced that more information will soon be provided on the matter.
Miroslaw Chyr, a spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, said on Monday about suspected corruption, managing an organized criminal group and money laundering former transport minister Sławomir N was detained.
According to the information provided by the Central Anticorruption Bureau, in addition to Sławomir N., officers of the Central Anticorruption Bureau from Gdańsk detained two more persons – former commander of JW 2305 “GROM” Dariusz Z. and Gdańsk businessman Jacek P. All three are suspected of corruption and acting in as part of an organized criminal group.
Sławomir N. became the president of Ukrawtodor in October 2016. In September 2019, the release of N. from this function was announced by the Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Władysław Kryklij. The minister in an interview with the weekly “Fokus” said that N. “intends to leave alone; he understands that the political landscape has changed”. He added that N. “is probably the least problematic member of the team involved in road management.”
At the end of September, N. resigned, adding that he had received a new job offer in Ukraine. He did not disclose its details.
