Presidential elections in Poland. Sławomir Mentzen: I am running because I know what to do to make our country strong
– I deeply believe that great things await Poles, I believe that we can live in a strong and rich, proud and safe Poland. I believe that we are able to achieve all this. What’s more, I know how to make it happen, which is why I will run in the next presidential elections in 2025 – said Sławomir Mentzen. – People tell me that I am not presidential. And they are right. Poles have become accustomed to the fact that the president cannot do anything, he is only for representative purposes, he is supposed to award orders, give receptions, make speeches and watch over the chandelier. We had the presidential Bronisław Komorowski, we have the presidential Andrzej Duda, we almost got the presidential Rafał Trzaskowski – he added. – And what did their presidential status give us, what did it contribute to the fate of our country? If Poles still want a president who will smile broadly when others spit in our faces and will pretend that it is raining, then continue to vote for PiS and PO representatives or for Hołownia, because I am not like that – the politician emphasized.
– If Poles still want to have a president who will obediently sign everything that the chairman of his party brings, then vote for PiS and PO, because I am not like that. I am fit for action. If I win this election, I will be the most active president in history. Not in terms of medals awarded or criminals pardoned. This will be a truly active and independent presidency – Mentzen stated. – People tell me that I am stubborn, that I stubbornly and over dead bodies pursue my goal. It is true, I am not very diplomatic, I do not smile at everyone and do not make hearts out of my hands. But the problem is that all presidents were not stubborn and were unable to be stubborn, were unable to say “no” when it was necessary – he emphasized. – I would like to have a president who would not sign any law unfavorable for Poland, who would be stubborn and would not agree to any tax increase. They were not stubborn, but I am – he added.
– People also accuse me of not being able to adapt. But our problem is that as Poles we are constantly adapting to someone else. I do not intend to adapt to any interests or feelings of Germans, Russians or Ukrainians. They are the ones who have to adapt to us. To our historical memory, culture – said the Confederation’s candidate for president, Sławomir Mentzen, during his speech.
