Slavia was the only one not to lose in 15 matches of the league year, and in the highest competition, they have not found a winner in 22 matches. They lead the table by eight points ahead of Pilsen, third Ostrava and defending champion Sparta even have a lead of 14 points. In addition, she was in perfect tune for Thursday’s home game of the Europa League with Fenerbahce Istanbul, which is led by the famous coach José Mourinho.
České Budějovice have not won in 19 consecutive matches in the league (without a draw) and are the only team in the competition to have not won in the opening 15 duels, of which they have lost thirteen times. From the last place, they continue to lose nine points to the penultimate Prague Dukla and Pardubice.
Dynamo played a balanced game with the opponent for most of the match, but only the guests scored goals. In the 15th minute, after Diouf’s cross, the ball jumped into the hand of České Budějovice captain Ondrášek in the penalty area. Referee Vokoun without hesitation ordered a penalty, from which Chorý opened the scoring with the sixth hit of the league season.
The Slavists didn’t push too hard for the second goal either. The deflected ball reached Zafeiris in the 38th minute, whose shot was seen by České Budějovice goalkeeper Janáček at the last moment and the ball ended up in the net. The Greek representative recorded his fourth hit in the year of the top competition.
At the beginning of the second half, the third goal of the Prague club was born just as inconspicuously. In the corner of the penalty area, Diouf and Čoudek got into a fight, from which the ball bounced out of bounds. The situation was subsequently assessed by the video referee, who revealed that the defender from České Budějovice played with his hand. Chytil converted the second penalty in the match and sent Slavia to a comfortable lead. With his sixth goal in the league season, the Czech representative overtook Choré as the team’s top scorer.
The guests then controlled the game until the end of the match and, for example, substitute Jurásek got two promising opportunities, but did not score. It wasn’t until the end of the match that substitute Pech made his mark, scoring the first goal in the league in the 88th minute through Janáček.
České Budějovice have not won ten times in a row at home in the league and have not scored in the last seven duels there. In addition, today’s result made them the worst team in Czech league history after the middle of the season. In the top competition, 15 rounds are played, as one was postponed due to floods. After the first 15 rounds, Dukla Prague had the weakest record so far in the 1993/1994 season, when they won three points. České Budějovice have so far won only two points for two draws.
Coaches’ votes after the game:
František Straka (Č. Budějovice): “The result is cruel for us, because we played a good match. But we have to accept that in terms of quality, we are different from Slavia, which has enormous strength. Besides, I was very sorry for the two penalties from which the opponent scored. Both ordered the referee on hand, which is a bit unlucky. Sometimes the ball rubs against the body, sometimes the hand. Penalties simply threw us down, but Slavia has such a high quality roster that we can’t Nothing can be done and we are going to play against Slavia. Today we appealed to Mladí the guys we put in the lineup, such as Hák, Mašek and Krch, did a great job. We have to remember that they played in the Czech Football League not too long ago.”
Jindřich Trpišovský (Slavia): “We managed the match in terms of results, our game performance was not at the same level as in previous matches. In the first half, we did not have good movement, it was difficult for us to get there. Budějovice moved well in the first half and played very deep. We weren’t doing well today, especially in the first 20 minutes, when the home side were ahead of everything and were more lively they controlled that match and we calmed down. The only one from the team who came close to his performance ceiling was our best player, even if he didn’t have points for goals or assists. We replaced him as a precaution after one fight the knee was bothering me.”
