After being eliminated from the Champions League, Slavia’s footballers partially regained their taste in Ostrava, which they beat 1: 0 in the 6th round of the First League.
Nicolae Stanciu scored a close victory for the Prague team in the equalizer in the 69th minute, and the home team threw away several great opportunities. The defenders of the championship title thus remain second in the table with a two-point loss behind the leader Sparta. Miner is thirteenth.
Four days after the 1: 4 defeat on the soil of the Danish Midtjylland in the 4th preliminary round of the LM, Slavia arrived in Ostrava without the back of Coufal, who moved to West Ham. Holeš replaced him on the right side of the defense.
The start of the match belonged to Baník a little unexpectedly. The home team, even in response to the unconvincing start of the season, deployed the young Nigerian striker Tijani from the beginning, who reached a dangerous end after only two minutes. In the beginning, Ostrava threatened the Slavic gate three times and the reigning champion could not really jump into the match.
It wasn’t until the 19th minute that the miners were frightened by the spotted Stancia’s shot, but even then they had more out of the game. Millimeters separated Ostrava from the goal in the 27th minute, when the successful Holzer center stoper Zima directed his own goal into the bar and sent the rebounded ball over the crossbar of De Azevedo.
The agile Brazilian immediately pulled Kolář once more, and the Slavic goalkeeper also fired Holzer’s bomb from a distance. Slavia did not fire at Laštůvka in the first half, but in the end it boiled several times after standard situations and gaps.
The guests entered the second half with two changes and the alternating Ševčík prepared a chance for Musu by a cross from the right kick after three minutes.
But Baník countered similarly, and the people of Prague could talk about luck, that Svozil could not direct the fallen ball around the corner on the back pole. Slavia was already more dangerous in the second half after the interlocation, but the goal was scored from a controversial situation. The referees did not whistle the corner for Baník to the great displeasure of Ostrava, Kolář quickly sent Tecl to the break and after Laštůvka’s intervention, the referee Hrubeš whistled a penalty on the visiting striker, which certainly turned Stanciu into a change.
The third defeat in the league season was tried to be averted by the alternating Potočný, but Kolář set off his shot and Baník did not succeed even at the final pressure. Ostrava did not improve its balance and won only once in the last 11 league matches at home. The Slezan defeated Slavia in one of the last 13 duels in the highest competition.
