The footballers of Prague’s Slavia drew at home in the opening round of the European League with the Glasgow Rangers 1: 1.
He led the leader of the Czech league to Nicolae Stanciu in the seventh minute, but the fresh Scottish champion evened up after the break after Filip Helander made a name for himself.
In the last minute of the match, the Prague team was won by a great intervention by the goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who pacified Lukáš Masopust’s header with a fantastic jump on the goal line.
The revenge is played in a week on the “Riders”, led by former English national captain and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Both teams, which sovereignly dominate their home leagues, started in the expected formations. Holeš returned to the Slavic opening eleven and was injured in the previous round against Leicester. The English favorite was eliminated by the Prague team after a home draw 0: 0 and an outdoor win of 2: 0.
The Red and Whites started more actively against the Rangers and opened the score in the seventh minute. Olayinka knocked Stanciu down and behind his technical shot to the post just behind the lime, the goalkeeper McGregor just looked back. The Romanian midfielder scored in the third match in a row in which he entered.
After half an hour, McGregor Provod tried to catch the ball from a direct kick, but the goalkeeper shot the shot. The Rangers, who won the first Scottish title in 10 years on Sunday, were not in danger for a long time, but then leveled cheaply.
In the 34th minute, the goalkeeper Kolář averted the danger after a bad communication in the pass, but he collected in the next two minutes. After the standard situation, the ball bounced on the edge of the offside to Hagi, who still kept the ball at the bar on the field of play and prepared a goal for an empty goal for Helander.
On the other hand, he tried to surprise McGregor with an active Stance from a sharp angle from a direct kick, but the visiting number one hit. After half time, coach Slavia Trpišovský sent Masopust to the lawn instead of Olayinka, but the red and whites were no longer as superior as before the break.
On the contrary, the guests began to threaten more and more. In the 64th minute, after the Kent shot, the goalkeeper kept the goalkeeper Kolář under the crossbar, then Goldson headed next to him. On the opposite side along the corner and Holeš’s header, Rangers quarterbacks averted the ball just before the line.
In the last minute, the substitute Masopust could decide, but his header was fantastically stopped by McGregor. The Rangers have already kept the draw and extended the invincibility in this year’s European League. In the season, the winner of the 1972 Cup Winners’ Cup lost only one competitive match. The Slavists extended the competitive invincibility to 17 matches.
Slavia is aiming for a second promotion to the quarterfinals of the European League in the last three seasons, the year before the top eight teams of the competition fell out with Chelsea. The cup maximum of the reigning Czech champion is the semifinals of the UEFA Cup from 1996.
Due to ongoing measures against coronavirus in the country, matches are still played without fans. Only 300 club guests who have a negative PCR test are allowed in the stadiums. Slavia invited a hundred doctors and paramedics to the duel with the Rangers.
