Slavia irones the Prymula case: With VIP guests, it also invites paramedics to the galleries

According to the chairman of the board of Slavia, Jaroslav Tvrdík, the club wants to thank the medics for the fight against the covidu-19 pandemic. “Thank you for saving our lives,” he wrote on Twitter.

Fans have not been able to go to a sports match in the Czech Republic for several months due to government measures. However, football clubs can invite supporters from the ranks of fans or long-term partners to the European League, who must undergo a coronavirus test and observe hygienic measures at the stadium.

Although Slavia sought to invite up to 3,000 people, there could eventually be three hundred. Of these, there should be a hundred permanent ticket holders working as doctors, paramedics or medical staff.

“We believe that one evening while watching their favorite club will allow them to relax and recharge their batteries during an unusual football match,” the club said in a statement.

For the previous home duel of the European League in February with Leicester, 600 people could arrive in Eden.

The road out of darkness

Spectators can go to the stadium as part of a test project called “Journey from Darkness”, which aims to partially return fans to cultural, social and sporting events. But now only Slavia plays in the European League. In the Czech Republic, a hard lockdown applies otherwise, spectators are not allowed to play culture or sports, they even have limited opportunities to play sports on their own.

The initiative was damaged in February by the invitation of the former Minister of Health and the then adviser to Prime Minister Roman Prymula in Slavia. He attracted attention mainly by urging a hard lockdown just a few hours before the match.

Among the VIP guests in the auditorium were, for example, the General Director of Czech Television Petr Dvořák, the Chancellor of the President Vratislav Mynář, the MEP Alexandr Vondra, the Mayor of Reporyja Pavel Novotný and the tennis player Petra Kvitová. Tvrdík later apologized for the ethically inappropriate invitation of several people.
