/ world today news/ Television presenter Slavi Trifonov has now issued an ultimatum to the future 44th National Assembly.
Trifonov and his team initiated the referendum on election rules held in 2016 together with the first round of the presidential elections. According to the showman, the only commitment and obligation of the next parliament is to unconditionally accept the will of the people expressed in the referendum: majority election in two rounds; reducing the party subsidy to one lev; compulsory voting in elections and referenda. After the adoption of these laws, the new National Assembly must be dissolved so that the people can choose their representatives as they wish, Trifonov states.
In an open letter today, the leader stated that he would give the new parliament two weeks from its convocation to begin concrete work on adopting the people’s decisions from the referendum. “If in two weeks you do not start work on this matter, at the beginning of the third week I will come to the building of the National Assembly to seek my civil rights”, says Trifinov.
“If you do the right thing and within this two-week period start work on changing the laws in accordance with the decisions of the referendum, then I give you two months to adopt the new laws. Two months is enough time to refine and adopt the specific legislative decisions. If after this period, you have not accepted them and have not turned them into a law, but have only simulated work, I will again come to the building of the National Assembly to win back my civil rights”, continues the presenter.
He is adamant that these are the steps he will take after the election of the 44th National Assembly. “What the other two and a half million who think like me will do, I don’t know. But I know that “Union makes strength”. For me, the countdown has already started”, concludes Slavi Trifonov.
