“There is such a people” with a sociological survey – what percentage of Bulgarians want a referendum on a presidential republic. According to the survey data, for which they paid an international sociological agency, 45% of Bulgarians approve of the expansion of presidential powers. The leader of the party – Slavi Trifonov, announced that their idea was not coordinated with the acting president Rumen Radev.
“We have not had conversations with Radev about the idea we have. He does not know about this goal of ours, he has no involvement. He runs the presidency, and we run what we think is right. He has nothing to do with it,” Trifonov was categorical.
He also commented on the performance of ITN in the upcoming early parliamentary elections. “We will not form a coalition with anyone. I don’t like the coalition. There will be no such coalition. It is impossible,” he declared.
“If ITN enters the next parliament, we will do everything possible to make it work. I still have time to think about whether I myself will be a candidate for deputy,” Trifonov said categorically.
According to him, the reason for the outflow of votes from his party in favor of PP is because of the “history and charisma” of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev and because of the “anti-GERB position they took”.

Trifonov refused to give an estimated result of ITN’s performance at the vote in April, but promised: “ITN will do everything possible to enter the next parliament with a decent result.”
According to the leader, the result of the formation in the previous election was not due to the machine vote. “It is to ITN’s credit to have machine voting. I have no doubt about the vote”, he was categorical.
Regarding the missing billion, which Kiril Petkov spoke about in a TV interview, Trifonov pointed out: “This is an absolute lie! Why did he say that – I don’t know, when he was prime minister he also lied, but this is an absolute lie. There is no such billion, no I didn’t call him about any billion and I didn’t ask him “Where is my billion?”. The chairman of ITN was categorical – he will sue the ex-prime minister “because he is a liar, for the claims that I am a mobster, for “Captain Andreevo”. The case is scheduled for April 21, 2023.

“If the referendum planned by us is successful, a Grand National Assembly will have to be convened and all parties will have to make proposals for changes to the Constitution,” said Toshko Yordanov. He explained that under the presidential republic there is a much more detailed distinction between the legislative, judicial and executive powers.
Trifonov also commented on the topic of the declaration he did not submit to the KPCONPI: “Initially I made such a decision, which was not correct. And I told myself that it was high time to act purely legally, I apologized and did so. Otherwise, the authorities who should know – they know, they are doing the necessary checks in an absolutely legal way. I will file a statement and you will be witnesses to it.”
Asked whether the veto for the RSM should be returned, Trifonov stated categorically: “This is the only way to stop this anti-Bulgarian campaign that is going on in our neighbor”.
