/ world today news/ The changes were technical, come up with something more original, answered Toma Bykov
In just 3 days in 2016, GERB changed the Electoral Code, and a week later, the presidential elections were held based on it. The leader of “There is such a people” Slavi Trifonov made such a reference in response to the criticism of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his party members from Monday on the new changes in the electoral legislation.
GERB held two press conferences at which they announced that the changes in the code were adopted hastily, it is not known who wrote them, and the texts were adjusted so that the parties from the Radev circle would win the elections, and he himself would get a second term . The initiators of the changes were precisely “There is such a people”.
“Since the power is in the truth, I will tell you what is the difference between the truth and a lie,” Trifonov wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. With the post, he wanted to remind GERB what happened 10 days before the presidential elections on 11/6/2016.
Keep an eye on the dates. On 21.10.2016, during an active election period, a general bill to amend and supplement the Electoral Code was introduced. 3 days are given for proposals between the first and second votes. The law was adopted on 26.10.2016. Following the decree of President Plevneliev from the same day – 26.10.2016, the changes were promulgated in issue 85 of the “State Gazette” from 28.10.2016. And a week later, according to the newly adopted rules, even elections are being produced! Sin, shame, sacrilege? writes Trifonov. He recalls the words of Desislava Atanasova from GERB that thanks to the “new barbarians” for the first time overnight, changes in the code were adopted and promulgated. And he continues: “The amendments to the Electoral Code were adopted on 04/29/2021, and were promulgated on 05/01/2021. Apparently Atanasova had a long night.”
However, in response to his statement, Toma Bykov from GERB posted on Facebook the changes to the code that were then promulgated. I don’t know how they could go slower, given that they are purely technical. And Stanislav Trifonov and the OF led by him and Rumen Radev trashed the entire Electoral Code in the same time. Mr. Trifonov, the time for applause is over. Tell Mr. Toshko to come up with some more original status to disguise what you are doing and what you are involved in”wrote Bykov.
A reference by “24 Chasa” showed that with these changes, the methodology for reporting the results of the election of the president and vice president has been corrected. It is accepted that the votes “I do not support anyone” are taken into account when calculating the result of the majority elections – presidential and for mayors, but not from the proportional ones – for the National Assembly, European Parliament and municipal councils, in order not to raise the threshold for entry. Then there are 3 in 1 elections – for president, mayor of the capital region “Mladost” and the referendum. The amendment to have the voting in one room in front of one committee was also accepted.
In his post, Trifonov criticizes Bykov personally for his words that the criteria for selecting members of the new CEC is not clear. A new lie. We remind Toma Bykov to read that in Art. 50 of the Electoral Code contains the requirements for the members of the CEC, which have not been changed, so the president does not have any authority to determine the requirements or the members of the CEC himself, he writes.
After that, he recalled the words of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov that it was written in the code and that there would be video surveillance “if possible”, which meant that there would be such where the parties’ results were weaker. Another lie. I don’t know if Borisov’s deputies were asleep, but the text in question “if possible” was dropped from the law, he adds. However, he emphasizes that there will be no video surveillance, but video recording has been accepted and will be available in every section.
According to Trifonov, Borisov tried to “copy his own sins to the new parties”, as he and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva announced “how the voting machines were unprotected and were from Venezuela”. There, on the other hand, “there was a dictatorship, they killed the protesters with snipers and it was worrying that a country from the EU bought voting machines” right there.
The soooo nice detail is that the voting machines were purchased by their CEC. 9,600 machines for BGN 43 million including VAT. Are they from Venezuela – let their CEC say, he insists. Another detail was that the CEC refused an independent audit of the machines, and a state company did it.
“Apparently GERB has not yet realized that the time when there was no one to expose their lies is over,” he concludes.
