Wife of slain police hero Jonathan Diller lashes out at elected officials for allowing New York crime to rise uncheckedwhile about 10,000 people gathered on Long Island to pay their respects to the fallen officer.
“How many more police officers and how many more families will have to make the ultimate sacrifice before we start protecting them?”said Stephanie Diller, 29, who demanded through tears during her devastating tribute inside St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Massapequa.
Diller was fatally shot Monday during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway, Queens.by two career criminals who had numerous previous records, the authorities reported.
In the speech of Stephanie Diller recounted happy memories with her 31-year-old husband and their life together, while their one-year-old son, Ryan, dressed in a navy suithe stammered over his shoulder.
“I am very proud that thousands of people across the country call Jonathan a hero,” she said. “But The truth is that he has always been a hero to Ryan and me. The rest of the world is just catching up”.

The funeral service was held on Holy Saturday, one of the saddest dates in the Christian calendar, and featured a scripture reading focused on St. Michael, the patron saint of agents.

“What he loved most was being Ryan’s father,” explained New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Edward Caban.

“He ran into danger… no doubt saving lives,” Adams said, insisting that “This is a city of law and order, not disorder.”

Retired NYPD Sergeant Brian Foley cried while wearing his uniform outside the funeral and called on lawmakers to support bail reform to “walk to the rhythm.” “You should walk a little and then you can come talk to me.”
