Slag. Niels Kristian Iversen does not want to ride in the back of PGE Ekstraliga. He prefers to wait

Everything that was bad started in his case during one of the pre-season training sessions, where he struggled hard with Bartosz Zmarzlik and recorded a dangerous fall. A few days later, he explained in Speedway Star that such collisions happened and that it was not anyone’s fault.

– We both fell, nobody did anything on purpose. I felt the effects of this accident more strongly, and its strength is proved by the fact that my deflector landed in the stands and for a week no one could find it – he added.

The Dane was recovering for a long time, and when he did he could not regain his high form. During the season he had more falls, including in Grudziądz. When on August 9, after more than a month’s break, he returned with the team of Stal to the Gorzów track in the first race in the match with Motor Lublin, he broke one of his wrist bones. When, after a few weeks, he returned to racing again, he still had mainly uphill, and the final of his unlucky ride this season were falls during the Grand Prix in Toruń and the semi-final match of PGE Ekstraliga with Betard Sparta Wrocław at the Stal stadium. After the latter incident, it turned out that he had suffered a fracture of one rib.

When it seemed that nothing unfortunate would happen to the Dane before returning to Denmark, a recent study revealed that he was infected with the coronavirus. Now, instead of being at home, he is in quarantine in Poland.

– Niels, get well soon. I like you very much boy. You are so unlucky this year that if there was a competition for the greatest unlucky in the world, you would not be able to take part in it because of some bad luck – wrote one of the Internet users in the Iversen post on twitter.

The former bronze medalist of the individual world championship now has a lot of time and is already wondering what to do with his career in the Polish league? Due to the regulatory changes, the chances that he will find a permanent place in PGE Ekstraliga have dropped to a minimum, but Iversen has his own plan. Knowing that next year it will no longer be possible to use the “guests” (with the exception of a positive coronavirus test), PUK is seriously considering signing the so-called Warsaw contract and then watching the league market. He does not smile because he starts in lower leagues, where earnings are much lower than in PGE Ekstraliga. It is also known that most clubs, if not all, will not bet on waiting players next year and any weaker disposition or – knock off an injury – will result in a need for reliable replacements. This season, the aforementioned “guests” played such a role, and in the next season they may be those who will wait for the situation to develop and will not rush to conclude a contract.

Iversen has already had a word from the president of Stal Marek Grzyb that if he expresses such will, the club will sign a contract with him without obligation, and if necessary, at any time, he will rent it to the club indicated by the Dane. It has to be admitted that the current record holder of the Gorzów track takes a lot of risk, but apparently he still feels up to fighting with the best and hence this idea is conceiving at the moment. He is also sure that the limit of bad luck has already exhausted the end of his career and now only the sun will shine towards him.
