Slackline world record holder at the Long Night of Sciences at the TU Dresden — TU Dresden — TU Dresden

Thrill meets science – Ruben Langer knows all about heights: He studies bridge construction at the TU Dresden and even in his free time he easily overcomes distances at great heights. He is the world record holder on the slackline and will give a taste of his skills at the Dresden Long Night of Science on July 8th on the meadow behind the lecture hall center. The slackline on which he will (not only) balance is 150 meters long and 20 meters high.

In addition, Ruben Langer reports on his experiences in setting up and inspecting a 2.13 kilometer long slackline at a height of 600 meters and what parallels there are to conventional bridge building. It starts at 8 p.m.

With around 220 individual events, the TU Dresden is the largest organizer of the Long Night of Science 2022. The many offers again include the popular adventure mile of civil engineers in Georg-Schumann-Straße with experiments such as the glass trampoline or the “over the water walk”. The Center for advanced electronic devices (cfaed) in the Barkhausen building shows robots that are controlled with artificial intelligence. The acoustic special laboratories open their doors in the same building. The reverberation room and the anechoic room enable visitors to have unique listening experiences. The Professorship for Nanotechnology and Materials Science is organizing a Long Night of Smelling with curious and amazing things around our noses in Hallwachsstrasse. YouTuber “DorFuchs” aka Johann Beurich performs his catchy math songs in the Trefftz building.
